6 Reasons Why We Love Elopement Weddings

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

As Wedding industry specialists, we love Weddings that come in all sizes, shapes, forms, and colors. From Weddings with 5 guests to several hundred, we’ve seen and shot it all, but we admit to having a soft spot for Elopements. Why, you ask?

Well- before we jump in, let’s properly define what an Elopement is. Back in the olden days, elopements meant sneaking away in the middle of the night to Vegas to get married by an Elvis impersonator. Thankfully, the term has evolved over time to represent more of an intimate get away Wedding with just you, your partner, and your closest family members. Elopements have become quite popular in recent history, with spikes in web searches, but seem to make sense than ever now at the time of writing this (ahem, 2020 World Pandemic). Here are some of our fave reasons below.

1. Intimacy

For most of our couples, the main reason they elope is to 100% focus on the intimacy of the moments between them two. As fun and exciting as big weddings may be, you more often than not, find yourself being a host to every child, parent, and grandparent vying for your 1 minute of attention. Because of this, you’ll miss out on the quiet and still moments that are often overlooked. When eloping, you’re free to express your emotions because you’re not caught up in all of the noise.

2. No Stress

Ask anyone who has ever been married and the first thing they may mention is how stressful the planning process all was. Yes, it really is, and this is why we offer Wedding Coordinators on top of all of our services. The anxiety of everything EVEN with a Wedding Coordinator, can have a serious impact on your experience as a whole. You go from being a bride/groom to being a manager. Ain’t nobody got time for that on their Wedding day!

3. Epic Photos

Imagine, just you and your partner alone with an entire mountainside or forest to yourselves. These photos make for some of the most epic shots. Honestly, your venue simply may not have the space for miles and miles of scenery. Your Elopement photos are candid moments, just for you, and we just cannot get over how they turn out.

4. Environmentally Conscious

Did you ever stop to think about how much waste is produced at each Wedding? We didn’t until we looked it up. According to Wikipedia, the average wedding has 150+ guests and produces between 400 and 600 pounds of trash. Yikes! We never think about it while we’re having fun, drinking the night away, but these Weddings aren’t doing our environment any favors. We are a company that strives to be as green as possible so we enjoy being environmentally friendly.

5. No Family Drama

Weddings are undeniably big family affairs. AKA: Time for your parents to play host to aunts, uncles, and cousins who you probably haven’t seen in years. We all love family, but we also aren’t the first to notice that it’s a lot of personalities and relationships all under one roof. This can be especially challenging if certain relationships are tense. Ie. When Mom or Dad brings that new partner they’ve been dating. Yup, the awkward moments are cringe worthy, even for us.

6. Save Money

The average cost of a wedding in 2019 was $33,900 (including the engagement ring, ceremony and reception), according to a study done by The Knot. Depending on where you are as you read this, that can be a down payment for some Real Estate. Or, how about the ultimate honeymoon vacation, anyone? Either way, you want to really think about how you spend this money for the long term. Our Elopement Packages start at $500 and go up to $2,500. Just think of all that moola that goes into your pocket.
